Macro Monday Moth

My friend and I decided to help us with our project we would incorporate themes. Mondays is Macro Monday. So as the light was fading and I realized I had almost forgot my pic of the day I got excited to get out my macro lens. I went in search for a subject. This was only one of many. I took his picture and looked down to check the exposure only to look up and find that he was gone.

Gecko!

We have had him for several years. Jesse didn't want him anymore so we cleaned him up and tired to give it to our nephew for his birthday. My brother said no. So his cage has found a new spot downstairs and Matthew and Daniel have claimed him. He has been held more in the last week than he has the entire time we have owned him. I think he is happy.

1 mile from me!!

I have been wanting to take this picture for awhile. I drive by this scene almost everyday. It is off the side of a teeny tiny road with barely any room to open your door without getting run over. I know, boring symmetrical landscape, but it is SO pretty in person and a little piece of God's glory in my "backyard".

A picture a day!

My friend came up with a fun idea to take a picture a day for the entire year and post it on our blogs. This is a good challenge for me seeing that I practically abandon my blog last year. I think others are joining in too. SO, since it has been FREEZING, I though this would be a good first post. We went to up the mountain to play in the snow. The trees were gorgeous as each twig was covered in ice. The sun was reflecting off of them.

Butterflies

We haven't done butterflies since Matthew was 5 and now it was Daniel's turn. We do them each time someone is in Kindergarten. So here is their progression. We just set them free a few days ago in this gorgeous weather. We set them on our new honey suckle vine and got to watch one of them drink up a bunch of nectar while the other four took off into the air.

Day 2

Day 7

We actually got to watch transform into a crysalid right before our eyes. It was crazy!!

A slice of Fall!

Every year I long for the beauty that the East Coast graces it's inhabitants, the ever glorious colors that our Creator clothes the trees with. Most of what we get in So Cal in the fall is alot of brown. There is some color here and there but it is sparse. Well this year our Lord blessed me with Sonoma's beauty. I don't ever remember being up at my parents at such a perfect time. I think the Autumn moments I have spent here in the past have either been just before the changing of the colors or just after it has all fallen to the ground.

This is the tree that greeted me when we arrived at their house. It was midnight and it only got better when I woke up to a sunny day.

A closer look!

A backyard beauty! You would never know that this is one of the awful tress that keep me from coming up in spring. It's a Black Walnut.  I cannot even exit the backdoor in spring without a horrible allergic outbreak.

The entire town was covered with these beauties and the range of color was phenomenal!
